Licensed Social Worker- Early Intervention

Positive Steps Therapy, a leading provider of children’s therapy services, is currently seeking a pediatric Social Worker to join us in providing Early Intervention services, to children ages birth through three, in Bedford and Somerset Counties. This is a flexible part-time opportunity with the goal to work one-on-one with families in their homes and the community, while supporting them through teletherapy during COVID-19.

As an early interventionist, you have the ability to make a positive impact on a child, while coaching their family members through interventions based on their daily routines in the child’s natural setting. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and various other medical professionals to plan and carry over goals while working on the Individual Family Service Plan.

In this role, while supporting the child and family through the IFSP goals, you will:

• Assess and address the living situation of an infant or toddler that impede the maximum effective use of EI services.
• Provide social skill building to infant or toddler and their family.
• Assist families and caregivers in enhancing their ability to maximize their child’s overall development through actively involving them during the early intervention session.
• Provide support to the families in their acceptance of their child’s developmental needs.
• Identify, mobilize and coordinate community resources and services to enable an infant or toddler with special needs and their family to receive the maximum benefit from early intervention services. 
• Provide support and counseling to children and families.

Qualifications for this position include:

1.    MSW- Masters of Social Work, and

Must meet one of the following criteria

1. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT)
2. Licensed Social Worker (LSW, LCSW)
3.  Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

2.    Must not be excluded from enrolling in Pennsylvania’s Promise System

3.    Must be able to obtain and present a new or recent Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal Record Clearance, and FBI Clearance approving individual for work with children.

4.    Birth to three-year old experience is strongly preferred. Must have at least one year of experience working with children under the age of 5 years in your role as a social worker.
