Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data & Analytics Specialist to join our Operations group in Calgary. In this crucial role, you will play a pivotal part in leveraging advanced analytics tools and technologies such as Snowflake, DBT Cloud, Tableau Prep Builder, Python, using DataRobot to develop and optimize our operations. You will be tasked with building, refining, and maintaining our analytics infrastructure, and using DataRobot’s AI-driven insights for anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and rate forecasting. This position demands a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to communicate the value of analytics to stakeholders at all levels. You will work closely with various departments, driving operational efficiency and innovation while promoting the adoption of advanced analytics across Canlin. Your efforts will directly contribute to our mission of enhancing safety and production throughout the organization.


Key Responsibilities

·         Serve as the primary analytics lead for our Operations group, ensuring the reliability and strategic impact of our analytics solutions across Snowflake, DBT Cloud, Tableau Prep Builder, and Python scripts.

·         Lead the design and maintenance of analytics tools, including Tableau Dashboards and Streamlit applications, to integrate predictive insights effectively.

·         Develop and deploy predictive models using DataRobot for anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and forecasting, thereby enhancing operational foresight and efficiency.

·         Champion and advocate for advanced analytics and predictive modeling, illustrating their benefits and ROI to all levels of management and staff, and driving high-value analytics projects.

·         Stay at the forefront of industry trends, continuously improving capabilities in analytics and machine learning through professional development and technological advancements.

·         Implement and maintain real-time monitoring and surveillance systems, contributing to the development of Ignition pages, operational envelopes, and SmartAlerts, while refining machine learning tools for operational excellence.

·         Enhance operational procedures in real-time by collaborating with Field Operations for timely adjustments and improvements, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.

·         Contribute to the expansion and adaptation of IROC initiatives, fostering collaboration across departments to support Canlin's mission of safety and production improvement.

 

Candidate Profile

·         Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field is preferred.

·         Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in data engineering or analytics, ideally with expertise in predictive modeling within the Oil and Gas industry.

·         Technical Skills:

o    Proficiency in Snowflake, DBT Cloud, Tableau, Python, and DataRobot or similar AI and machine learning platforms.

o    Proven ability to develop and maintain Tableau Dashboards, Streamlit applications, and use predictive analytics for operational enhancements.

·         Core Competencies:

o    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity to work independently as the primary analytics resource.

o    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of articulating the benefits of analytics and predictive modeling to diverse audiences.

o    Deep understanding of the operational challenges and opportunities in the Oil and Gas sector.
