Role & Responsibilities 

We are seeking a Fluvial Geomorphologist or Water Resources Engineer to join our Western Team. The ideal candidate will have the training and experience in core disciplines relevant to the assessment and restoration of fluvial systems. This candidate should have a strong understanding of the physical processes that drive the function of river and creek ecosystems and that are rooted in the subjects of hydrology and hydraulics. At the same time, this candidate should appreciate and be familiar with the broader ecological context, particularly the aquatic, wetland, and riparian components that are critical to overall riverine health. Additionally, candidate should have experience with and be comfortable with project management as well as directing grading contractors during construction. 

 

Required Skills 

  • Passion for the environment and sincere interest in integrating ecology and design 

  • Organized and demonstrated ability to effectively manage project tasks  

  • Thorough understanding of open channel hydraulics, including (but not limited to) development and use of HEC-RAS models for analysis, and understanding of sediment transport in fluvial systems 

  • Experience in field data collection, including geomorphic field assessment of stream systems  

  • Familiarity with land survey techniques and use of survey equipment 

  • Directing construction crews and conducting construction inspections/observations 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and public speaking. 

  • Experience using Autodesk Civil 3D for design  

  • Familiarity with the design and construction process, including plans and specifications and different delivery methods 

 

Helpful/Preferred Skills 

  • Demonstrated experience in 2D unsteady modeling or SWMM 

  • Experience in construction oversight and design-build restoration projects 

  • Experience in preparation of construction specifications and cost estimates 

  • Project management training or business development 

  • Project scoping and fee estimating 

  • Experience in restoration-related subjects such as fisheries, soil science, low-impact stormwater treatment, etc. 

 

Education 

Masters Degree or Comparable Experience in core stream-related disciplines, such as Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Science 

Professional Engineer License or ability to acquire
