Allegro Charter School of Music is a public charter school sponsored by the Charleston County School District located at 120 Broad Street on the Charleston Peninsula. We will be serving students in grades 6-12 for the 2020-2021 school year.
The mission of the school is to produce inspired thinkers and creative members of society through the infusion of music into an academically challenging environment. About the Role:
Allegro Charter School of Music is seeking a certified Special Education teacher for middle and high school for the 2020-2021 school year.
What you'll be doing:
As a special education teacher at Allegro Charter School of Music the successful candidate should expect to delivery instruction in a variety of settings. The successful candidate must be willing and able to educate students using a co-taught model as well as offer students more individualized and specialized instruction in a resource class outside of the
general education setting. It is imperative that the successful candidate be able to collaborate with general education teachers to ensure effective differentiation of lessons for all students on their caseload. The candidate will be expected to effectively deliver curriculum based on goal oriented and data driven strategies. He or she will be responsible for all case manager responsibilities as it relates to a student's IEP. Those responsibilities include but are not limited to; maintaining a student’s IEP through collaboration with IEP team, collecting data on annual IEP goals, using collected data to drive curriculum decisions based on the student’s needs, communicating with parents through bi-quarterly progress reports, communicating with general education teachers to ensure all IEP accommodations are being implemented in the classroom, scheduling annual review meetings and re-evaluations as necessary.
What we'll want you to have:
1. Dual Certified preferred.
2. Valid SC Teaching Certificate or ability to obtain a valid SC Teaching Certificate within 3 months of employment in the field(s) of assignment and highly qualified in the subject area being taught.
3. Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
4. Strong technology skills.
5. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
6. Appreciation of music.
The physical requirements of the job described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, and crouch. Duties may involve risk resulting from attending to students' behavioral needs.
Additional physical requirements include the following:
1. Physically capable of frequently lifting or moving up to 40 pounds;
2. Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students;
3. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
4. Manual dexterity for the purpose of using a telephone and data entry;
5. Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;
6. Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; and
7. Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone.

Allegro Charter School of Music offers a Health Benefits Package through the State of South Carolina Health Plan and a 403(b) through Valic.
This is a 190 day position.
Salary Range: Salary to commensurate with qualifications.
Typical Full-Time Hours: 7:00 AM- 4:00 PM (please note that there are times you will be required to work outside of these hours).
