Research Scientist I, Chemical Biology
C4 Therapeutics Inc Watertown, MA

About C4 Therapeutics

C4 Therapeutics is pioneering a new class of drugs. C4’s technology platform produces small molecule drugs that harness machinery already present in cells to selectively target disease-relevant proteins for degradation. Our approach has the potential to address a broad range of diseases including cancer, infectious disease, and autoimmune disorders.

Position Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, scientifically motivated research scientist to join our chemical biology team. The candidate will play a significant role in the development and implementation of in vitro efforts to characterize, evaluate, and differentiate our small molecule therapeutics to advance early drug discovery projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the fields of cancer biology, cell biology, and small molecule cancer drug discovery. In addition, the successful candidate will have a strong commitment to team success, ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams, and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. This position seeks individuals who are comfortable with a fast-paced environment and combine innovative/diverse approaches with strong foundational understandings in cancer biology to help advance drug discovery projects. While a lot will be expected of this candidate, C4 Therapeutics is committed to investing in you by providing strong leadership, defined career growth opportunities, exposure to state of the art techniques, and a highly positive work environment with top talent.

  • Provide in-depth chemical biology, cancer biology, cell biology, pre-clinical expertise to ongoing and future drug discovery programs to help advance early drug discovery projects.
  • Design and execute cell-based assays to identify/validate/differentiate compound mechanism of action, inform on target and pathway modulation, and inform on cellular response to target perturbation.
  • Work with multidisciplinary groups (pharmacology, translational biology, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry) to initiate and advance drug discovery programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biology or other relevant disciplines with 1-5 years’ experience or equivalent in a research laboratory in an academic and/or industry setting
  • Significant knowledge of cancer biology and experience in small molecule cancer drug discovery
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and present data in a clear fashion is essential.
  • Well versed in the culture of cancer cell lines (solid, heme), and small molecule mechanism of action studies with experience in cell-based genetic engineering (RNAi, CRISPR, lentiviral overexpression), flow cytometry, and molecular biology (cloning) preferred.
  • Works well in a collaborative team-oriented environment and is capable of independently conducting innovative research.
