A typical day for this candidate would include these responsibilities:

  • Research, design and/or execution of in vitro/ex vivo assays that:
    • Inform on compound mechanism of action and drug resistance
    • Enable the identification of markers for patient selection and drug target engagement
    • Interrogate combinatorial activity with other therapeutics
    • Aid in supporting in vivo dosing schedule
    • Identify/support the use of species for toxicity studies

These assays include Western blotting, ELISA, bead-based immunoassays, qRT-PCR, flow cytometry and IHC from human and animal primary and cancer cell lines, blood and tissues.

  • Assisting in the design of, and analysis of tissues from, in vivo studies to support your hypotheses including PK, PD, and tumor efficacy studies
  • Critically analyzing and interpreting data; suggesting studies to validate/follow up
  • Documenting studies in an electronic notebook
  • Compiling results in an organized format and clearly presenting to manager, project team, and company meetings
  • Reading literature to expand your understanding of current drug target(s) to identify/support disease areas and predictive/response biomarkers
  • Contributing to authorship of clinical trial related documents and scientific manuscripts (when required)
