The Gem City Market Cooperative, Dayton’s first multi-stakeholder community and employee-owned full-service grocery store will have our grand opening soon. We are looking for a create, consistent leader that will provide training, vision and expertise to our community through the food service at Gem City Market. Whether you're butchering meat, preparing hot food, stocking or greeting customers, your goal will be to create a memorable experience for out guests that'll bring them back!
Reporting to the General Manager, the Kitchen Manager will:
- Provide exemplary leadership and coordination of the entire food service program and its staff, ensuring policies and procedures meet federal and state requirements, by providing professional training and skills development of all culinary staff
- Support the mission, goals, and objectives of the co-op through their leadership, planning, and precise execution of all department operations including, but not limited to adhering to a budget, menu planning, R&D, food costing and all other procedures necessary to deliver an array of high quality services to our customers
- Build and maintain an excellent culinary service program that will provide a diverse array of delicious and health-conscious offerings, while delivering high quality products and services in a cooperative environment
- Be an exemplary culinarian through the execution of proper advanced cooking techniques, skills and proficient use of all kitchen equipment to create meals that are flavorful, presentable and of high quality, while providing a high level experience to our customers
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
A desire to serve the public required
Employee and payroll management or supervisory experience required
Highly Organized with an attention to detail
Ability to model desirable servant leadership skills and professional conduct
Experience ordering food, rotating stock and menu creation required
Experience using advanced cooking techniques such a baking, and butchery and cook to order techniques required
Experience operating a restaurant, food service establishment, catering or deli required
Ability to work independently within established guidelines
The willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and some holidays
