Child Watch Attendant

Job Title: Child Watch Attendant                   

Reports to: Childwatch Coordinator; Youth Development Director                                                                     Revision Date: 1/18/2017


Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focus on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring, while putting safety at the utmost importance.


  1. Supervises the children in the Child Watch area at all times.
  2. Engage in safe, fun activities with all program participants at all times.
  3. Engage fully with parents in a professional manner.
  4. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
  5. Maintains program site and equipment.
  6. Maintains a clean childcare environment.
  7. Maintains required program records. i.e sign in/out & participant record.
  8. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
  9. Be able to change diapers promptly and effectively when needed.
  10. Must wear staff shirt and name tag when clocked in.

  1. At least 16 years of age.
  2. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  3. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate
    program activities.
  4. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships
    with people from different backgrounds.


Lift, carry, push, walk, jog and any other physical demands of the position.
