Payworks develops proprietary, integrated SaaS-based products in the payroll, human resources and time and attendance space. We create, deploy and maintain our own solutions; this requires a talented team of Developers who are excellent critical thinkers, problem solvers and are driven to create products that work better. Reporting to the Team Leader, the Software Developer will be responsible for projects developing software solutions for new and existing clients. The development of these innovative solutions is designed to meet our clients’ unique business needs. You will get the chance to work with our top-notch team to build out and connect various interfaces, including mobile interfaces, to our Service Based Architecture.

COLLABORATE AND INNOVATE – IT’S WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Creatively solve problems – We love to solve problems! You will take on coding problems and implement coding solutions independently, with assistance from your team on more complex issues as required. You will update tickets with solution details, testing notes and results independently.

Participating in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and providing feedback to other developers will be important aspects of collaborating with your squad.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Post-Secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Approximately 3-5 years of experience as a Software Developer or in a similar position.
  • Proven experience with coding solutions in a modern procedural language such as C#, Java or C++. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic SQL queries; experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL Queries is an asset.
  • Experience using a source control system and a debugging tool.
  • Openness to receiving constructive feedback and a desire to continuously improve ones own skills.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and problem solving skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft .NET Core (C#), Microsoft .NET (VB), ASP.NET and Git source control is an asset but not required.
  • Experience with HTML and modern front-end frameworks and technologies such as Vue.js, CSS3, SCSS, JavaScript is an asset but not required.
  • Experience with JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence and other Atlassian tools is an asset.
  • Experience using Git version control is an asset but not required.
  • Experience using build and packaging tools such as MSBuild/dotnet, Webpack and Grunt is an asset but not required.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment is an asset.
