The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Registrar. The Assistant Registrar is responsible for providing departmental support in all areas of collection management and exhibition registration for the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA).

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

·         Assists with collection-related projects including new acquisition data entry, data cleanup in the collections management system (CMS), as well as the upkeep of collection physical records

·         Assists with storing and numbering objects in collections storage

·         Assists with incoming and outgoing loan process, which includes exhibition database entry, assisting with installations and courier arrangements

·         Assists with digital images for exhibition related projects and collection documentation

·         Updating insurance values for the collection

·         Assists with processing Rights & Reproduction requests

·         Assists with housekeeping of gallery and storage spaces as needed

·         Perform general administrative duties such as filing & scanning

·         Other duties, as required

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

·         Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Art, Art History, Anthropology, Museum Studies, or another related field

·         At least one-year museum or non-profit experience in registration and/or collection management

·         Demonstrative proficiency in database management [NOMA’s current system is Mimsy XG – Axiell]

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent communication and computer skills – a CMS, Word, Excel
  • Ability to work effectively on a wide variety of projects concurrently, with concern for the tasks assigned and the goals of the department
  • Understanding of museum policies and procedures according to AAM standards
  • Intermediate knowledge of standard museum cataloging systems
  • Ability to be flexible and work independently with staff in order to manage several projects at any one time
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively
  • Ability to effectively manage projects with a high degree of organization and productivity
  • Ability to assess priorities and work well under pressure
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned

 




***Salary range is $41000-$46000***
