Business Development Manager


The Business Development Manager is responsible for building relationships with prospective clients to develop new business, as well as planning and implementing marketing strategies, with the goal of acquiring new clients in target verticals to increase agency revenue. The successful candidate will drive the proposal process for new clients including prospecting, discovery conversations, initial strategy setting, budget and pricing development, contract negotiations and client presentations.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Develops and executes business development strategy and implements marketing plans to achieve agency revenue growth objectives.

  2. Identifies prospective clients within August United’s target verticals and areas of focus by performing market research and analysis of prospective clients. This may include but is not limited to: identifying opportunities with inbound requests, calls, digital channels, conferences, networking, and cultivating referrals. 

  3. Effectively communicates and responds to customers’ needs by following through on all aspects of client communication, both written and verbal.

  4. Works closely with senior leaders to develop proposals and respond to RFPs, outlining marketing strategies, tactics, investment and timing information, and effectively communicate these details to clients with passion.

  5. Monitors competitive environment for brand positioning improvements and development of new go-to-market opportunities.

  6. Reviews and analyzes sales performances against objectives, provides weekly guidance and forecasting analysis to senior leadership.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


This position requires travel up to 25%, mostly domestic. Out-of-state and overnight travel is occasionally expected.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field.

Preferred Experience

3 years of proven Business Development experience.
