Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) - Vincentian Home (North Hills)

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is responsible for assisting in the management of the Nursing Department and acts in place of the Director of Nursing as needed. This includes the delivery and maintenance of quality care and services to residents. The ADON works in collaboration with Nursing Administration in fostering an organizational culture characterized by team-work, precision, openness, engagement, challenges, reports and deliverable results. Additional responsibilities include planning, organizing, developing and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, as well as guidelines and regulations that govern the facility.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:       

1.      Adheres to all facility and department work rules, policies and procedures.

2.      Coordinates the daily functions of nursing department and interacts with nursing staff, families and physicians.

3.      Collaborates with Human Resources in areas including recruitment, orientation, training, staff development, performance evaluation, disciplinary action and policies and procedures.

4.      Responsible for meeting required department staffing ratios.

5.      Reviews nursing documentation and care plans; revises or updates as needed.

6.      Assists with scheduling of nursing staff as needed.

7.      Assists with staff in-services as directed.

8.      Assists with the development, revision, and implementation of nursing policies.

9.      Assists with the development, implementation, and monitoring of any plans of correction.

10.  Assists with orientation of new staff.

11.  Direct staff in performance of their duties.

12.  Assists with assessment of referrals of potential new residents, including hospital visits for intake as appropriate.

13.  May work as floor nurse as needed

14.  May oversee the administration of Point Click Care.

15.  Coordinates with continuous Quality improvement Committee the timely implementation of corrective action plans and Controls.

16.  Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing and the Administrator.


 1.      Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse licensure in good standing or temporary practice permit required.

2.      Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.  Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

3.      Five (5) years of nursing experience in long term care or similar health care environment preferred.

Selected candidates will need to successfully complete pre-hire testing including, a drug test, physical exam, TB test and background check.
