Job Title:            Mechanical Engineer

Reporting to:    Manager, Mechanical Engineering

 

Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Manager, Mechanical Engineering and assists in various projects in a cross-functional project team. In consultation with the Design and Product teams you are responsible for electro-mechanical design, development, and testing of custom sensor products. You develop mechanical designs for research and development projects, electro-mechanical products and fixtures for sensors. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a high-tech, fast paced, product-development company.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the mechanical design of custom sensor products
  • Designs and builds fixtures requiring integration of hardware and software for use in development and prototype qualification
  • Generates engineering documentation including drawings, bills of materials, assembly instructions, etc.
  • Conducts design reviews and failure modes and effects
  • Communicates with component suppliers and internal supply chain to source mechanical and electrical components
  • Interacts with a multi-disciplined team to innovate novel solutions for products
  • Contribute to culture of intellectual property generation

 

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of related experience in design and product development
  • Experience taking product prototypes from conception to manufacturing
  • Strong background in control systems and automation with hands-on experience
  • High degree of proficiency in SolidWorks and familiar with mechanical components fabricating process
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design and geometric tolerancing
  • FEA knowledge and thermal management in mechanical design are an asset

·       Working experience in Arena, EPICOR, VAULT

·       Understand new product development process

  • Technical competency and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and a proven ability to collaborate with team members in a fast-paced multi-disciplined environment
