Do you have a passion for creating connections and finding resources for families and individuals? United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley is seeking individuals to serve as AmeriCorps members here in the Lehigh Valley.
The AmeriCorps Housing Support Member will support COVID-19 response and its substantial impact on the housing sector. AmeriCorps member will be placed at Valley Health Partners Street Medicine Team.
Street Medicine is a
program that provides free health care for persons experiencing homelessness in
the Lehigh Valley. Our mission is to provide care where persons feel most
comfortable, whether it's in the streets, under a bridge, in an encampment,
soup kitchen or shelter in Lehigh and Northampton counties.
AmeriCorps volunteers can expect to serve with Street
Medicine team members as well as community partners, gathering information
about local resources and creating a well-organized, easy-to-follow document
that can be updated as new information becomes available. This document will
not only be invaluable for the Street Medicine team but will also serve as a
resource to VHP colleagues who serve persons experiencing homelessness within
their own departments. Work may be completed virtually, done in the Street
Medicine office and may, occasionally, necessitate working with community partners
in their respective offices or in Street Medicine clinics.
AmeriCorps members earn a living stipend based on their service hours and upon successful completion of their term, they are eligible for an educational award that can be applied toward student loans or further educational expenses.
STIPEND - $8,471. Stipend will be split evenly across bi weekly pay periods.
EDUCATIONAL AWARD - $3,172
