As the Cloud Security Architect with Payworks, you will design, implement, and oversee the security architecture and safeguards for Payworks’ cloud-based systems. In this critical role, you will leverage your extensive experience in cloud security to establish and manage security strategies, policies, and frameworks to safeguard our cloud infrastructure, applications, and data from potential risks. As the first to hold this new role at Payworks, you will ensure cloud security measures are aligned with Payworks’ business goals and regulatory standards by collaborating closely with the Cloud Architect and other teams, such as Legal, Privacy, IT Infrastructure, DevOps, and Development.

• Design and Implement Security Architecture – You will develop and maintain a comprehensive cloud architecture that supports Payworks’ cloud strategy and existing architecture, ensuring a security, privacy and governance by design approach. With a focus on Microsoft Azure, you will create secure, scalable solutions, establishing security controls and standards that meet industry best practices and regulatory requirements while supporting our broader enterprise security strategies.
• Monitor and Maintain – In collaboration with the Security Operations Center team, you will design and implement security monitoring and incident response procedures for cloud environments. This includes the development and management of tools and processes for continuous monitoring of cloud infrastructure and applications to identify potential security threats. When required, your will also lead and participate in investigations into security incidents and participate in internal and external audits related to cloud security.
• Implement Best Practices – Staying current on cloud security trends, threats, and technologies, you will promote best practices in cloud security through training and awareness programs across the organization. You will develop and enforce cloud security policies, procedures, and standards, evaluating and implementing new cloud security tools and practices. Additionally, you will conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for mitigating risks in cloud environments and third party vendors and solutions.
• Collaborate and Engage – Working closely with Cloud Architect, Privacy, IT Infrastructure, DevOps, Development and other stakeholders, you will ensure security and privacy is embedded in cloud-based projects from inception. You will offer guidance on secure cloud architecture, encompassing areas such as identity and access management, encryption, and network security.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences, or another related field. 
• 10+ years’ experience in Cloud Security, Architecture, Information Security or a similar role with direct experience in designing and managing cloud infrastructure. 
• Strong understanding of security protocols, practices, compliance requirements, encryption, and identity management in the cloud.
• Knowledge of security control frameworks, such as CIS 8.1 and CCM CSA 4.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure and Windows-based systems and applications.
• Previous experience migrating on-premises infrastructure to the cloud.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex topics or concepts in effective ways to different audiences.
• Willingness to share experience and technical knowledge with peers and others in the organization.
• Strong analysis, management, organizational, and documentation skills. 
• Familiarity with tools and techniques related to preventing intrusions and system vulnerabilities.
• Experience with any of the following vendors, tools or products considered an asset: Azure, LogRhythm, Palo Alto Networks Firewalls, PaloAlto Cortex XDR, Cisco DUO, BeyondTrust, BitSight, OneTrust, Cisco, HP, Synopsis WhiteHat DAST, Burpsuite, Rapid7 products, Proofpoint products, Netscaler Web Application Firewalls.
• Certifications such as Azure Security Engineer Associate, and Azure Cybersecurity Architect Expert are an asset. 
• SANS, ISC2 CISSP & ISSAP, ISACA, Offensive Security, CompTIA, EC-Council and CISCO certifications are an asset.
