The Occupational Therapist is a full-time (fixed term) role committed to helping people experiencing homelessness or poverty transition towards maintaining sustainable and healthy lifestyles by assessing their functional skills. The Occupational Therapist will work closely with the Health and Wellness team to improve client’s quality of life through our focus on person-centered care, and holistic interventions.  The Occupational Therapist will work within the clinical team in the Health and Wellness Centre as part of a community of care emphasis. 

  • Assess and intervene to support a person’s cognitive, perceptual, motor, and psychosocial functioning while providing clinical standardized and non-standardized assessments and resulting reports to referral sources;
  • Deliver rehabilitation programs within the Mustard Seed community and assist people with chronic diseases to self-manage their challenges;
  • Liaise with internal and external resources, including the maintenance of existing partnerships as well as development of new ones; teach clinical students during their practicum rotations, and  advocate for client to access resources within and outside the organization, while continuing to update resources for staff, clients, and future students.


  • MSc in Occupational Therapy; at least 1-year experience preferred
  • Registered with Alberta College of Occupational Therapist
  • Willing to supervise MSc OT students on an ongoing basis
  • Understanding of vulnerable populations, in particular those experiencing homelessness, and 1-2 years’ experience working in the field is an asset
  • An Employment Background Check is required for all positions at The Mustard Seed

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for any employer
