General Summary:

To ensure efficient, friendly and helpful customer service for entire store to help meet store goals. Participate in creating a positive environment that encourages the Los Alamos COOP Market team culture.

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 Customer Service

 Â·Ensure interactions with customers are always governed by honesty, integrity and the highest standard of ethical conduct.

· Make sure that all customers are treated in a friendly manner, made to feel comfortable and are always satisfied with their shopping experience.

· Proactively greet all customers as they enter the store in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner.

· Be proactive in offering samples and suggestions for purchase and ways to use product. Refer to all store resources and staff to find answers. Ensure customer leaves with the information they have requested. All employees must be well-versed in store layout and Standard Operating Procedures.

· Always offer a solution that will satisfy the customer, including any necessary returns or exchanges according to Los Alamos COOP Market policies and procedures.

·Apply customer service standards consistently over the phone, as well as in person.

· Always thank the customer for shopping with Los Alamos COOP Market.

· Support all Service departments and front end with any customer needs.



 Â· Assist in regular department product stocking and rotation.

· Assist in ensuring facility is properly maintained. Report faulty equipment or other facility issues to management.

· Maintain all displays, prep and storage areas in clean, orderly condition according to all department procedures, and all aspects of sales floor operations.

· Rotate deliveries into storage. Ensure proper product dating and labeling procedures are followed.

· Work to ensure all store departments priorities are met as set by the General Manager, including daily shift task checklists.

· Follow food safety and sanitation regulations maintaining correct temperatures for; receiving, storing, cooking, and cooling according to Standard Operating Procedures. Maintain daily temp logs, as directed.

· Alert General Manager of any low inventories or out-of stocks of products and supplies.

· Label product with accurate product information at the scale.

· Implement and support all Los Alamos COOP Market programs, including knowledge of products and ingredients.


 Â· Stay informed and engaged in carrying out store merchandising goals as directed.

·  Ensure that the department is fully stocked to give appearance of abundance, products are labeled accurately, and of highest quality in order to attract customer purchases. This includes facing, rotating and culling

   according to department procedures. Prep, make, package and stock food service items as directed and according to department procedures.

·  Stay informed about all product literature, new department items, price changes, specials and any events.


 Additional Duties:

 Â·In conjunction with, and in the absence of General Manager, Assistant General Manager act as a store floor operations leader.

· In conjunction with, and in the absence of, General Manager prioritize and implement department tasks as outlined. Delegate responsibilities and monitor progress on various tasks.

· Set a positive example for store staff and act as a leadership presence on the sales floor.

· Oversee shift checklists and break schedule in conjunction with, and in the absence of General Manager or Assistant General Manager

· Act as a communication liaison within overall store and General Manager in conjunction with, and in the absence of General Manager or Assistant General Manager.

· Provide feedback to the General Manager in regards to all department / total store operations and performance as necessary.

· Take on additional tasks as assigned by the General Manager or Assistant General Manager.

· Coordinate and direct daily communication between morning and evening crews.

· Become familiar with company reports and financials.

· Perform other duties as assigned by General Manager.


· Ability to manage people and different situations calmly

· Excellent customer service skills

· Excellent communication and listening skills

· Natural Food / Organic experience preferred

· Retail experience

· Merchandising experience preferred

· Ability to handle multiple demands in a calm and effective manner

· Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments

· Knowledge of products and trends in the natural food industry, a plus

· Ability to create a positive environment and work as a team member

· Organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy

· Demonstrated ability to make decisions using good judgment

· Experience implementing systems and procedures

· Excellent quality, freshness skills a must

Special Requirements

· Must be 18 years or older

· Must be available to work evenings and weekends and to the needs of the business

· Must be fluent in written and spoken English

· Comfortable and willing to work with meat and fresh food items

· Willingness to work with sanitizers and cleaners



·Familiarity with natural food, nutrition and food sensitivities

·Basic skills in math, weights, measures and conversions

·Knowledge of sanitary food handling and preparation techniques


Physical Demands

 Â·Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation

·Able to stand for long periods of time

·Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment

·Must be able to perform functions with repetitive wrist and arm motion
