Position Open: Community Center Operator

The 29th Street Community Center (300 E. 29th Street) is seeking a Community Center Operator to work a weekly schedule of Monday through Thursday from 5:00-8:00 PM, Friday from 4:30-6:30 PM, and Saturday 10:00-6:00 PM. The rate is $15/hour for 20-24 hours a week.

The primary focus of the Community Center Operator is to ensure building security during the after-school, evening, and weekend hours at the Center, manage space rental operations, as well as support the Center’s Communications platforms.

Responsibilities:

·         Ensure building security by monitoring building flow of individuals of who are coming and out of the Center during the after-school and evening hours

·         Handle the sign-out process for students and families for the Center’s after-school program

·         Manage the communications of platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, MailChimp

·         Create and schedule plans for social media and newsletter communications for fundraisers, events, programs, and updates

·         Support logistics for evening programming during weeknights

·         Provide support for space rentals by answering inquiries, leading tours, filling out paperwork, taking money, keeping clear documentation of schedules, receipts, and calendars, maintain the program schedule to ensure people are out on time

·         Answer phones, field questions, help callers understand the registration process with individual providers, provide directions and information regarding the Center

·         Communicate facilities issues and material shortages with the Director/Program Manager in a timely fashion; 

·         Other duties as required by the Director/Program Manager 

Qualifications:

·         High School Diploma/GED required  

·         Leadership skills as exhibited through an ability to work independently and in team settings 

·         Experience working with a diverse group of people 

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and oral – including excellent phone skills 

·         Communications experience is a plus

·         Experience working with youth is a plus

·         Must pass a background check 

Anticipated Start Date: Monday, January 27th
