The TEAMtime Structured Recess program provides a comprehensive school-based play and youth development program during recess, lunch, and before or after school at elementary school sites in Baltimore City. The TEAMtime FLEX position provides support to the TEAMtime Structured Recess program in a variety of ways which include but do not limit: substituting staff, providing administrative & marketing support, and providing other duties as assigned.
As a substitute TEAMtime Coordinator, the TEAMtime FLEX person will conduct the duties specified in the TEAMtime Coordinator job description. The TEAMtime FLEX person will implement recess programming while creating a respectful, safe, inviting, and fun structured recess that supports the school and surrounding school community. The TEAMtime FLEX person will encourage teamwork and good sporting behavior through the established expectations, rules, and strategies of play yard games as well as consistently promote leadership and peaceful resolutions of conflicts that may arise during recess.
As administrative support, the TEAMtime FLEX person will perform administrative and office support activities which may include word processing, creating spreadsheets and presentations, filing, and data entry. The TEAMtime FLEX person will also be responsible for assisting the TEAMtime Program Manager with particular goals and objectives as it relates to the TEAMtime Structured Recess program.
The TEAMtime FLEX person will report to the TEAMtime Program Manager.
SKILLS to develop and implement physical activity programs; train and oversee support staff; create programs, lessons, and activities for youth; operate standard office equipment; prepare and maintain accurate records; operate a computer (Microsoft Word and Excel); use internet based programs; administer first aid and CPR.
KNOWLEDGE of youth development strategies as they relate to sports and play; supervision and training techniques; first aid and CPR procedures; classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct; safe practices in classroom and playground activities; universal precautions applicable to handling bodily fluids and other hazardous materials; proper lifting techniques; health standards and hazards; safety practices and procedures; emergency equipment and procedures as they apply to the position.
ABILITY to assure student understanding of proper exercise techniques; provide support and direction; communicate with diverse groups orally and in writing; maintain confidentiality and use discretion; exhibit patience and compassion; work with frequent interruptions; learn, explain and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; understand and follow oral and written directions; adapt to changing work locations and environments; set priorities; establish and maintain effective working relationships; work as part of a team; understand and be sensitive to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students, staff, school personnel, and administrators; maintain consistent, punctual and regular attendance.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 70% walking, and 25% standing.
