Millwright (Apprentice)
Aurora Peat Products produces professional grade Canadian Sphagnum peat moss products that enhance crop productivity and overall growing media quality for a wide range of industries and uses such as: soil mixes for the horticulture market, soil conditioners, mushroom casing material, general vegetable gardening, cannabis, and reforestation seedlings. We are currently looking for a Millwright Apprentice to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling various pieces of industrial equipment , and at times, fabrication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repair, install, align, dismantle equipment / production lines.
- Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
- Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations.
- Responsible for mechanical repairs and maintenance activities for the shifts.
- Follows and ensures all H&S processes are followed daily.
- Maintain high standards for housekeeping and cleanliness.
- Welding, machining and fabricating where qualified.
- Participate in the implementation of various improvement projects.
- Trouble shoot and repair problems on machines and equipment.
- Works closely with the Maintenance Team to complete preventative and predictive maintenance.
- Optimize equipment safety and reliability including the support of preventative maintenance initiatives.
- Assist in the training of employees on equipment.
- Assist with maintaining of buildings.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
We are looking for person with:
- High school diploma, technical diploma or equivalent.
- Currently pursuing Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) license.
- Willing and able to work shift work (days, afternoons, and nights), weekends.
- Prior experience in similar role is considered an asset.
- Outstanding work ethic with exceptional discipline, attendance, and safety record.
- Willingness to take initiative and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- High energy and initiative, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Team player who brings positive attitude and willingness to help.
