The Advocacy and Policy Associate is part of the Advocacy Department and reports to the Managing Director of Advocacy and Policy. This Advocacy and Policy Associate will develop and implement advocacy strategies to engage elected officials, policymakers, and ally advocates in support of our vision for a nation where everyone enjoys a fair share of our collective prosperity. The Advocacy and Policy Associate will be responsible for tracking and analyzing relevant contacts, legislative activities, and polling materials; preparing drafts of timely and compelling advocacy materials; maintaining relationships with identified policymakers and allies; and providing administrative support to advance our issue advocacy efforts.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Track and regularly analyze communications with policymakers;
- Track and regularly analyze legislative activity relevant to our program areas, and provide regular assessments of such relevant activities;
- Attend and, in coordination with Advocacy Department staff, lead regular communications with policymakers and allies;
- Draft and edit advocacy materials;
- Provide administrative support to the Advocacy Department, including scheduling, note-taking, preparing meeting materials, maintaining team calendar and budget, personnel research, as needed; and
- Conduct legislative and policy research, as needed.

- BA/BS in Social Sciences or Public Policy required
- Master’s degree preferred; focus on political science, economics, public policy is preferred. Must also have a strong academic record and proven outstanding writing skills
