Congressional Medal of Honor Society Convention Intern
The National WWII Museum is currently seeking an intern for the 2023 Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Annual Convention hosted by the Museum and the City of New Orleans. The Convention is one of our country’s most prestigious and patriotic events, providing unique opportunities for the public to engage with recipients and be inspired to embody the values of the Medal of Honor in their own lives. Presented by the Stephen G. and Regina Oswald Foundation, the 2023 CMOHS Convention will take place from October 31 through November 4 with Medal of Honor Recipients reuniting in New Orleans to enjoy regional cultural attractions and share their stories of service with local students, veterans, and community members.
This intern position will assist the Operations team in developing the CMOHS Convention in compliance with Museum and Society standards. This work will entail assisting with minor public-facing projects, preparing materials for important milestones, and working with the team on other projects as needed. Examples of work product include creating the informational binders for the summer site visit, coordinating supply and service orders, updating budget files, and managing purchase orders.
Through this work, the intern will gain valuable experience in event planning and execution as well as the ability to work across departments compiling internal and external materials following institution-wide standards for communication consistency. Additionally, this intern will have the opportunity to work with notable community partners and vendors involved in the Convention week.
The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in hotel, restaurant, and tourism administration; business administration; communications; or a related field. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills along with the ability to work collaboratively with a team are a must.
This position is a paid internship and offers a flexible 20-hour work week.
