Senior Mechanic

Job Summary:

CT/HX is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanic/Technician to join our team in Ashland, VA. This role involves maintaining and repairing cooling towers and plate and frame heat exchangers. Our ideal candidate has solid knowledge of basic mechanic’s tools, service, and diagnostic equipment, and possesses strong attention to detail along with excellent communication and customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on cooling towers and plate and frame heat exchangers.
• Communicate effectively with customers to understand and address their concerns.
• Assemble mechanical parts according to drawings and specifications.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment functionality problems.
• Plan and execute daily job tasks.
• Maintain detailed work logs, repair records, and daily reports.
• Ensure inventory and cleanliness of job sites and company vehicles.
• Perform assessments to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment for the team and customers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to quickly learn and demonstrate knowledge of Cooling Towers and Plate and Frame Heat Exchangers.
• Skills in servicing drive trains, interior metal refinishing, heat transfer fill media, preventative maintenance cleanings, and cooling tower filtration.
• Strong organizational skills, including tool management and job site safety.
• Effective communication and leadership skills.
• Commitment to maintaining safety standards and a positive work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification from a vocational or trade school is preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Previous experience with cooling towers and heat exchangers.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Position Type/Expected Hours:

• Core hours: 6 am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday.
• Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
• Overtime paid for hours worked over 40 per week.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

• Outdoor work year-round, often on roofs or elevated supports.
• Ability to climb, crouch, and crawl as necessary.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
