Job Title: Maintenance Planner and Specialist

Location: Corporate Office/Brewery

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Position Summary

The Maintenance Planner and Specialist is a dual role.  This position is responsible for maintenance planning, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs for all of the facilities equipment. This position will ensure safety and production schedules are met in addition to assigning work. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Maintenance Planning (approximately 70% of time)

Utilize CMMS to document maintenance actions on brewery equipment.

Assist the manager in reviewing all work orders to prioritize and schedule work.  This includes entering time estimates on incoming orders as well as ensuring the required parts are listed to complete the work.

Assist the manager with shift change meetings to review completed work orders and assign work to the oncoming shift.

Propose and modify the maintenance schedule according to our particular use of the equipment.

Complete work plans for maintenance activity and coordinate with the Storeroom Coordinator to assemble parts kits as required.

Identify, suggest, propose, and discuss solutions to equipment and facility issues with management.

Coordinate and supervise contractor repair, maintenance and installation jobs.


Maintenance Specialist Activity (approximately 30% of time)

Quickly diagnose source of failures and make emergency repairs to all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic systems as needed to return them to service and minimize production downtime.

Assist production staff in performing their duties through direction, training, and assistance.

Assist Brewery operations in setting up equipment and making running adjustments to maintain maximum efficiency. Including periodically auditing assigned equipment to improve or develop PMs, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures.

Maintain a clean and orderly work area, returning tools, equipment and supplies to the appropriate storage areas after each assignment.

Perform preventative maintenance on brewery equipment. 

Observe equipment in operation to prevent/diagnose potential problems.

Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove, repair and replace defective parts.

Maintain and service electrical and mechanical systems. 

Maintain and service plumbing, gas, air, drain and wastewater systems.

Troubleshoot Controls, Motors, and Medium Voltage Equipment, voltage up to 600V- anything more will be contracted out.

Work with a high degree of autonomy and minimal supervision to support production priorities.


Working Conditions

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations. 

Flexible to work a rotating schedules as business needs arise (typical workweek = 40 hours).  

Position requires standing for long periods of time (10 to 12 hours), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, upper body and arm rotation, arm extension, twisting, and lifting products and materials weighing up to 50 pounds and pulling up to 70 pounds.

Very high noise levels in/around bottling line (ear protection required).

Exposure to various temperature changes.

Able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (earplugs, gloves, boots, etc.).

Able to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.

Have Forklift, Scissor lift, and Man lift experience.

Have an eye for detail and be able to meet deadlines.

Oral and written communication skills. 

Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative.

Ability to safely use basic hand held and power tools such as drills, pressure washer, etc. and ensure they are in good working conditions. 

Ability to be a self-starter and work independently without direct supervision.


Education/Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 

Must have an Electrical / Mechanical background experience setting up and servicing packaging equipment, as well as basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.

Proper use and understanding of PPE.

The ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and blue prints.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

The ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

The ability to operate a forklift.

Must be at least 21 years of age and eligible to work in the United States.
