Arts & Entertainment Management intern

Salary:                $15 per hour              


 

Position Summary:  The Arts & Entertainment Management Intern assists in the coordination of activities and operations of the Programming Department. The objective is to provide the intern with a working knowledge of event production and management through hands-on experience in managing approximately 100 different concerts, programs and exhibits.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (to include other duties as assigned)

  • Assist in finalizing contract and event details for entertainment and other Programming Department programs including lodging, hospitality and meal logistics
  • Assist with logistics and events related to the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra programming
  • Coordinate and execute all details of the Lakeside Chautauqua Art Show, the Lakeside Plein Air Festival, and Lakeside Photography Show. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: recruit and register participants; create database of all entrants and their artwork; communicate all show details to entrants and volunteers;  create binder of all artists' biographies to share with attendees; create tags for all artwork entries; work with local art teacher to secure children's entries; coordinate and manage art intake and hanging, as well as art pick up at end of show;  arrange details of artwork sales and track all revenue; recruit and schedule volunteers to man the gallery hours and art sales; and assist judge with award selection and announce awards at show openings.
  • Manage merchandise sales, before and after events, for entertainers requiring onsite merchandise personnel; Recruit volunteers as needed to assist with merchandise sales; Track and deposit all merchandise revenue; Coordinate product shipments to and from artists
  • Work as part of the Hoover Stage Crew for events as needed for evening events
  • Meet with artists and do the pre-show welcome announcement for programs as needed
  • Create PowerPoint slide shows for any concerts requiring visual content
  • Coordinate outreach activities with local organizations for select programs
  • Assist with problem solving for challenges within programming department
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, etc.)
  • Assist in providing a safe atmosphere for all entertainers, guests and employees participating in programming events
  • Ensure customer relations and guest satisfaction are of the highest priority for all interactions with guests and colleagues
  • Participate in all intern activities and gatherings throughout the summer

 


Education & Experience:

Education:  College upperclassmen or recent graduate in arts management, general theatre, communication, or related field.

Qualifications:

To successfully perform the duties of this internship, the employee must be extremely detail oriented, possess strong organization and communication skills, function well independently as well as in a team environment, and display strong sense of initiative and work ethic.

 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift/roll/move up to 75 lbs. Employee may be exposed to wet, cold, humid, hot conditions and may be required to work outdoors for load in. These characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
