PHARMACY TECH - FULLTIME

Assists the Pharmacists by filling physician orders for medications for oral, rectal, topical and injectable use; mixes IV admixture solutions as required using aseptic technique in the Laminar Air Flow Hood; types labels, prepares and files charge slips and performs other related duties as required.  Utilizes PYXIS restocking patient areas as well as for inventory management.  

WORK HOURS:  

    Hours of operation, open 24 hours

           •Shifts will vary, 8 hour to 12 hour shifts

            •Shifts can be at both Main and North Campus Pharmacy

            •Weekends & Holidays

            •Overtime may be required with increased patient load

            •8 – 40 hours / week

            •Worked hours may be reduced during low census days

            •Morning & Evening Shifts

 WORKERS  SUPERVISED:  Director of Pharmacy & Staff Pharmacists  

QUALIFICATIONS: 

     EDUCATION - High School Diploma or the equivalent

     LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION - Current Pharmacy Technician Certification or licensure in the State of Louisiana

     TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

            One-year related pharmacy experience and/or training or graduate of certified training program/healthcare careers college

             Hospital experienced preferred

            Retail experience accepted

            Basic computer knowledge    

            Must be motivated

            PYXIS experience preferred

 JOB KNOWLEDGE

            Ability to read and communicate effectively in English

            Additional languages preferred.
