Crystal Springs is looking for an experienced Sommelier to join the Crystal Springs team! This person will be working side by side with our Wine Director, and be responsible for educating restaurant staff, work dinner in the wine cellar, update wine lists, taking part in the Crystal Springs annual Food and Wine Festival, and more! The Wine Cellar at Crystal Springs Resort  includes essentials, rarities, astute selections and stunning values from around the world. The cellar’s many catacombs hold extensive verticals of top estates in Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhone, Italy and California. Featuring 6,000 labels in its leather-bound list, the Wine Cellar has won multiple prestigious awards, including the Wine Spectator Grand Award every year since 2006.

 

Daily:           

-          Work the floor as Sommelier when needed

-          Work dinner in the cellar as Host/ Sommelier

-          Train all restaurant staff during pre-shift 

 

Weekly:        

-          Tasting/ Wine and Food Pairing Decisions (Wednesdays)

-          Latour staff training on wine (Friday & Saturday)

-          Inform staff about new memos, wine news, incentives, etc. (Saturday)

-          Check BEO’s and coordinate with Susanne

-          Write blogs and posts and be involved in the media wine world

Monthly:       

-           Update Latour wine BTG list when necessary

-          Assist with liquor inventory at Latour

-          Assist with organizational projects within the cellar

-          Write about wine/ pairings/ special events on our resort face book page

-          Assist with wine maker dinners throughout the year

-          Review and update Latour liquor menu

-          Review and update Latour beer menu

 

Seasonal:    

-          Participate in Wine and Food Festival

-          Participate in Beer Festival 6/16-6/18

-          Print wine list hard copies

Other:

* Binwise inventory system maintenance

* Conduct education classes, VIP wine cellar tours & tasting classes

* Represent Crystal Springs Resort as Sommelier at events (James Beard, outside catering, fund raisers, etc.)

* Birchstreet Cellar inventory

 

Part-Time

  • Train Tavern staff on BTG wines (March)
  • Train Bistro staff on BTG wines (April)
  • Train Chef’s Garden staff on BTG wines (May)
  • Train Banquet staff on Private Label wines & Upgraded wines
  • Supplement hourly rate of $17 by working at Latour or in the cellar for 1 point from the tips pool.
  • Conduct education classes, tastings, blind wine tasting games, and wine dinners by yourself or with Susanne for 100% of the gratuity.
  • Partake in writing “notes from the cellar” along with Susanne
  • Fill in for Susanne 

Full-Time

  • Train Tavern staff on BTG wines
  • Train Bistro staff on BTG wines
  • Train Chef’s Garden staff on BTG wines
  • Train Banquet staff on Private Label wines & Upgraded wines
  • Supplement hourly rate of $17 by working at Latour or in the cellar for 1 point from the tips pool.
