Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Claims Follow-Up: Work outstanding claims over 60 days old, proactively following up with insurance payers to secure timely resolution and maximize collections.
  • Denial Management: Research, investigate, and resolve denied or underpaid claims, identifying appropriate corrective actions and preparing appeals when necessary.
  • Insurance Payer Communication: Work directly with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance carriers, including BCBS, UnitedHealthcare (UHC), Aetna, VA, Cigna, and other payers, to resolve outstanding claims and payment issues.
  • Claim Status & Resolution: Utilize clearinghouse systems, payer portals, and direct communication with insurance representatives to research claim status, identify payment delays, and resolve outstanding balances.
  • Corrected Claims & Appeals: Prepare and submit corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals while ensuring compliance with payer guidelines and timely filing requirements.
  • Productivity & Performance: Consistently meet or exceed established productivity goals, quality standards, and performance expectations while maintaining accuracy in claim resolution.
  • Trend Identification: Identify recurring denials, payment discrepancies, and payer-related issues, escalating trends and recommending improvements to your Team Lead or Manager.
  • Patient & Payer Communication: Make and receive calls with insurance carriers and patients to resolve account balances and payment-related questions.
  • Refund Processing: Review and process refunds in accordance with payer requirements and applicable state regulations.
  • Compliance: Follow HIPAA regulations, applicable state and federal collection laws, and company policies.
  • Demonstrate Emergicon's core values in daily interactions and responsibilities.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Remote employees must reside in Texas.

You'll report to the Accounts Receivable Manager and collaborate with team members across the organization.

Our A/R team operates in a production-based environment with established daily productivity and quality expectations. You'll thrive in this position if you're experienced in navigating insurance payer requirements, confident handling denials and appeals, comfortable managing a high volume of accounts, and motivated by measurable results.

We're looking for someone who understands that successful A/R follow-up means moving claims toward resolution—not simply documenting another follow-up attempt.
