Collections Technician Intern

The National World War II Museum seeks an intern for the Collections and Exhibits department.  The intern will assist in the identification, cataloging, and rehousing of three-dimensional artifacts.

The overall work may include collection inventories, individual item cataloging, and creating specialized housing for certain items.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify individual pieces from the collection.
  • Catalogue the items on an excel spreadsheet that will be uploaded to the database upon its completion.
  • Complete condition reports and photography for each item.
  • Label each item with the accession number assigned in step two, which includes applying paper tags with B-72 solution or twill tape.
  • Create specialized housing for each individual item, which can include carving ethafoam to fit small boxes or using archival bags or tissue.
  • Locate collection in permanent Storage Location.
