About the Role
PLATFORM Financial is seeking a highly capable Senior Associate Advisor to join its estate and insurance planning team. This individual will lead client discussions, assess needs, develop planning recommendations, and manage execution across a steady volume of small and mid-market files.
The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, financial-planning literacy, and the professional maturity required to guide families and professionals through meaningful long-term planning decisions. This is a planning-centric advisory role.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Advisory Leadership
- Lead and participate in client meetings to understand family goals, financial context, corporate structures, and long-term objectives.
- Deliver clear, needs-based recommendations rooted in financial planning principles, estate considerations, and risk-management fundamentals.
- Provide holistic advice incorporating:
- Life insurance within broader planning frameworks
- Disability and Critical Illness (living benefits)
- Protection and continuity planning for incorporated professionals
- Act as a trusted advisor, offering clarity, confidence, and thoughtful guidance throughout the planning process.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, with a focus on cultivating growth from Platform’s existing client base, broker network, and books of business.
Case Stewardship & Execution
- Manage a consistent flow of planning engagements including:
- Family-market term planning
- Corporate-owned policies for incorporated professionals ($5K–$50K annual premiums)
- Occasional shared mid-sized files such as $100K+/year commitments or introductory leveraged strategies
- Oversee underwriting submissions, documentation, medical evidence, and carrier communications.
- Prepare client-ready planning summaries, recommendations, projections, and comparative analyses.
- Ensure documentation accuracy, timely follow-up, and compliance adherence on all files.
Collaboration & Technical Advisory Support
- Work closely with PLATFORM’s internal advisory team, contributing to planning strategy, case analysis, and execution.
- Leverage internal specialists to support client recommendations, including:
- Tax Accountant – for corporate/tax analysis and modeling
- Actuarial Support – for illustration and projection review
- Underwriting & Case Management – for medical/financial underwriting coordination
- Coordinate with clients’ external accountants, lawyers, and professional advisors to ensure alignment across all planning components.
- Act as a trusted resource for brokers and agents, providing guidance on product positioning and sales support.
Market Strategy & Positioning
- Represent Platform Financial at conferences in tax, estate planning, and life insurance.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on initiatives to enhance Platform’s brand visibility and market positioning in the Canadian tax and estate planning space.
- Ensure all activities meet compliance standards and adhere to industry regulations.

- Solid grounding in financial planning principles, including risk management, estate fundamentals, and corporate basics.
- Demonstrates disciplined judgement and a proactive, organized approach to client work.
- Motivated to lead small to mid-sized engagements independently.
- Thrives in a structured, professional advisory environment focused on precision, service, and planning excellence.
Qualifications
- LLQP
- Progress toward CFP, CLU, or TEP is recommended
- Minimum 4 years of experience in insurance advisory, financial planning client-facing roles.
- Strong understanding of:
- Financial and estate-planning fundamentals
- Term and permanent insurance
- Disability and Critical Illness
- Basic corporate structures and tax concepts (CDA, shareholder considerations)
- Proven ability to lead or co-lead client meetings with professionalism.
- Strong writing and analytical capabilities.
