Line Operator/Labourer

The Operator, under the direction of the Production Manager, will be responsible for the operation of the Mill, as required, in a safe manner and for the production of a clean, quality product. Maintains machinery and is responsible for the cleanliness of the plant. Responsible for ensuring safety awareness for all equipment and operations.

Essential Job Duties

• Produces a clean product. Packages material under given parameters.
• Maintain shredders as required.
• Ensure all pre-checks are done on forklifts and machines at the start of shift (notifies of any deficiencies immediately).
• Tags all products accurately and properly and places in the designated areas.
• Reports any problems to supervisor immediately.
• Communicates with managers and/or employees before the shift to determine what, if any, requires attention.
• Tracks and logs:  all bags, hours run, downtime using appropriate paperwork clearly stating all reasons and actions.
• Performs all functions according to proper safety practices.
• Performs routine checks to make sure aspiration system is functioning to meet quality standards, i.e., baghouse, gravity table, de-stoners, ducting.
• Maintains good communication with fellow workers, supervisors, and managers.
• Performs other duties as required.
