Reporting to the General Manager, the Plant Superintendent will actively participate in the implementation of the process and practices used in the new treatment plant. He/she will be responsible for achieving operational, financial, environmental, production and safety objectives. The incumbent will participate in the implementation and ensure compliance with quality standards, occupational health and safety best practices, and other applicable company procedures and policies.  Based at the Windfall site, located in the Nord-du-Québec region, he/she will be required to work a flexible schedule. Transportation, lodging and meals provided.

 Duties and responsibilities               

  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment;
  • Manage all resources and personnel assigned to the future treatment plant;
  • Design and implement operational plans for the plant, monitor them and report on progress;
  • Propose capital expenditure projects to improve processes or increase capacity.
  • Establish production budgets, monitor performance and costs, and produce reports;
  • Recognize and anticipate operational, technical and safety challenges, take the necessary steps to prevent or overcome them, and strive for continuous improvement;
  • Contribute to business planning and corporate strategy to enhance competitiveness, profitability and growth;
  • Work closely with the maintenance department to ensure that operations run safely, efficiently and without interruption;
  • Collaborate with management and senior executives to achieve the company's overall objectives;
  • Oversee new projects to increase capacity or replace obsolete equipment;
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and development of future operations team members
  • Participate in various meetings related to the department;
  • Act as a leader in safety, environment and community relations to help achieve the highest standards;
  • Ensure that work and installations are carried out safely and comply with applicable Quebec standards and regulations;
  • Comply at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and rules, and ensure that staff comply with these rules;
  • Carry out any other tasks related to the Plant Superintendent position that are relevant to the success of the project.

 Basic skills

 Technical skills

  • Experience in implementing best practices and continuous improvement;
  • Excellent knowledge of the mining industry, industry practices and technical advances;
  • Excellent knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to mining sites;
  • Experience in data and process analysis (financial and operational);
  • Experience in an integrated operations management center, an asset;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.)

 Qualifications required

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, metallurgy or mining;
  • More than (10) years of related experience in a mining or industrial environment and in the management of mining or plant operations;
  • Minimum of (5) years' experience in team management;
  • A valid class 5 driver's license;
  • Bilingualism (Will be called upon to meet with partnership leaders and English-speaking suppliers/consultants).
