Reporting to the IT & Finances Consultant, the IT Superintendent will supervise IT activities at the various sites, provide advice and technical support, and ensure the proper operation of the company's IT equipment. He/she will be required to make frequent visits to all the company's offices and mining sites.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Engage with managers from other parts of the business ;
  • Deploy IT infrastructure according to group standards ;
  • Engage with vendors and procure services where needed (IT, Networking, telephony etc.) ;
  • Understand the environment and apply strict compliance to policy and procedure ;
  • Ensure that the strategic objectives of the Windfall project are kept in mind and drive the operational requirements day to day ;
  • Ensure team members adhere to health and safety policies ;
  • Coordinates IT technicians' work schedules ;
  • Conducts performance appraisals of personnel under his/her responsibility ;
  • Coordinates the support team for all the company's IT infrastructures ;
  • Ensures that subcontractors' work on site is compatible with IT infrastructure installations (cables, cameras, antennas) ;
  • Coordinates links with new contractors to ensure their IT needs are met when they arrive on site ;
  • Project manages the implementation of special IT projects (e.g. introduction of electronic keys) ;
  • Assists the support team with IT security management and employee training ;
  • Act as IT support for technical problems involving Microsoft business applications and operating systems ;
  • Maintain customer documentation ;
  • Maintain logs and records for all IT hardware, software and licensing ;
  • Service Now owner for Windfall.  In charge of service delivery ;
  • Communicate with customers, keeping them informed of the progress of the incident and advising them of changes to the computer system ;
  • Perform any other tasks related to the IT Superintendent that are relevant to the success of the project.

Qualifications required

  • Diploma of Collegial Studies in Computer Science ;
  • Five (5) years' experience in a similar position ;
  • Valid class 5 driver's license ;
  • Be bilingual (French and English), (an asset). Will be required to communicate with various English-speaking suppliers and consultants.


Technical skills

  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft exchange architecture, operating systems, business applications, printing and network systems ;
  • Ability to diagnose technical problems ;
  • Ability to match resources to technical problems appropriately ;
  • Knowledge of all the organization's key IT services for which support is provided ;
  • Understanding of support tools, techniques and how technology is used to deliver IT services.


Basic skills

  • Must be able to supervise a team of IT analysts, technicians and other staff ;
  • Must be open to engage with vendors and implement services, manage contracts ;
  • Interpersonal skills: such as telephone and face-to-face communication, active listening and customer care ;
  • Ability to work under pressure (possibility of multi-tasking) ;
  • Ability to work in a fast-changing environment ;
  • Enjoy working in a team and be able to create and maintain internal and external relationships ;
  • Willingness to travel to mine sites in remote areas.
