Superviseur(e) service surface / Surface service supervisor
Reporting to the surface service coordinator, the surface service supervisor will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the Windfall site facilities. He/she will work in close collaboration with the various departments and external parties involved in infrastructure development. Based at the Windfall site, located in the Nord-du-Québec region, he or she will be required to work a schedule of fifteen (15) days on followed by thirteen (13) days off. Transportation, accommodation and meals provided.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
- Act at all times as a leader in safety, environment and community relations in order to help achieve the highest standards;
- Respect at all times the policies and regulations regarding occupational health and safety and the environment and ensure that these rules are respected by the staff;
- Maintain all roads on the Windfall project site including diamond drilling roads when required as well as access roads to the site;
- Clear snow from roads on the Windfall site as well as forest access roads;
- Excavate on site and construct roads, ponds and leach fields;
- Installation and maintenance of buildings on the site including electricity (generators) and plumbing;
- Responsible for surface contractors for excavation, crushing, electricity, plumbing as well as the deforestation contractor for roads or construction;
- Repairing the paths, bridges and signage on the access road to Windfall;
- Managing the construction of waterproofed waste rock dumps;
- Repairing and maintaining the mine water treatment ponds;
- Installing and maintaining drinking water systems;
- Supervising the carpenters at the Windfall site;
- Preparing cost estimates and ensuring budgets are adhered to;
- Supervising and coaching staff under his/her supervision to achieve objectives while ensuring that deadlines are met;
- Conducting performance evaluations of staff under his/her responsibility;
- Preparing applicable daily reports, monthly reports and associated variances;
- Perform any other task related to the position of surface service supervisor that is relevant to the success of the project.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Hold a degree in a relevant discipline. The degree may be compensated by experience;
- Possess an explosives permit;
- Have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, etc.)
- Hold a valid class 5 driving license;
- Have (10) years of experience in mining operations or exploration;
- Have experience in the construction and mining sectors;
- Hold mining modules 1-2-3-4-5 and 7 (an asset).
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Functional oral and written English (will need to communicate with English-speaking employees and contractors);
- Good knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to exploration and mining sites;
- Experience working with First Nations (an asset);
- Knowledge of the various processes according to industry standards.
BASIC SKILLS
- Be an excellent team player, show tact and political acumen;
- Have a good ability to adapt and be open to change and constructive feedback;
- Have good organizational skills and the ability to recognize priorities;
- Be autonomous, take initiative and be able to handle several files simultaneously;
- Be rigorous and demonstrate ethics and integrity.
