Job Summary
The Welder is responsible for performing structural welding repairs and fabrication on underground mining roof support and longwall equipment. This role ensures the strength, durability, and safety of heavy mining components subjected to extreme loads and harsh underground operating conditions. Welders play a critical role in restoring and maintaining equipment integrity and supporting safe mining operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on structural and mechanical mining components
• Repair cracked, worn, or damaged components to restore structural integrity
• Fabricate new components and assemblies per drawings and specifications
• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, job travelers, and work instructions
• Cut, grind, bevel, and fit materials prior to welding
• Inspect completed welds for penetration, profile, and quality
• Maintain welding machines, tools, and consumables
• Follow all welding procedures, quality requirements, and safety protocols

Qualifications and Requirements

• Welding experience in an industrial or heavy equipment environment
• Proficiency with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
• Knowledge of welding safety practices and procedures
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Industrial welding environment within a heavy manufacturing and mining equipment repair facility, involving structural welding, fabrication, and repair of large steel components and assemblies. Work is performed around MIG, TIG, and Stick welding equipment, cutting and grinding tools, overhead cranes, forklifts, and heavy materials, with exposure to heat, sparks, and dust.
• Position requires standing for extended periods, working in various physical positions, handling heavy components with lifting devices, and strict adherence to safety procedures and required use of personal protective equipment
