The Position:
The Vapor Control Technician is responsible for the safe setup, operation, and maintenance of vapor control systems across a variety of industrial job sites. This role involves hands-on equipment operation, environmental system monitoring, and supporting site remediation activities in physically demanding and safety-critical environments.
Responsibilities:
- Safely set up, operate, and monitor vapor control equipment, including scrubbers, thermal oxidizers, flares, heat exchangers, hoses, and ducting systems
- Ensure strict compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
- Monitor system performance, maintain operational integrity, and complete accurate data logging and reporting
- Conduct pre-job inspections of equipment, hoses, pumps, and work areas; identify and report hazards or deficiencies to supervision
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of valves, caps, hoses, pumps, gaskets, and related tank components
- Support project mobilization, site setup, process verification, and remediation activities
- Work safely in and around heavy equipment in loud, hazardous industrial environments
Qualification and Competencies:
- Experience operating and troubleshooting industrial equipment; vapor control systems (flares, scrubbers, thermal oxidizers) considered an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude (hoses, pumps, valves, and fittings)
- Knowledge of environmental and safety compliance standards
- Ability to perform inspections, monitoring, and data logging
- Willingness to respond to 24/7 emergency call-outs, as required
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme weather conditions
- Previous experience in industrial services, oil & gas, environmental services, or tank/vessel cleaning is an asset
- Physically capable of lifting and handling equipment up to 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures and safety protocols
- Ability to work independently and within a team in fast-paced environments
- Must pass pre-employment requirements, including drug and alcohol screening

Hours of work per day are regularly 8 hours per day, 5 days per week with applicable overtime rates.
