Responsible for operating various solid waste vehicles to collect and transport solid waste and recycling materials. Operates different types of reliable waste collection trucks; operates mechanism for loading, compressing, and dumping waste and recyclable materials; drives to a designated area to deliver refuse and recyclable materials; safely operates the solid waste collection truck; safely works the packing and dumping apparatus; assures that solid waste collection truck is fueled correctly, equipped, lubricated, and serviced; washes interior and exterior of solid waste collection truck; reports needed repairs immediately; may have the opportunity to participate in related cross-training opportunities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain safe and efficient operation of solid waste collection and transport equipment and vehicles. Perform pre-trip/ post-trip vehicle inspections and complete daily worksheets for equipment operated. Keep work location and vehicle in order. Knowledge of traffic laws involved in equipment operations, safe operations, and safety precautions necessary in equipment operation, including various types of solid waste collection trucks. Ability to - communicate orally and in writing; understand and carry out written and oral instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public. Occasional Saturdays / Floating Holidays. Must work in any weather condition.

Requirements:

  • CDL license A or B w/ A/B endorsement
  • DOT
  • Drug-Free
  • Considerable knowledge of safety standard practices governing the operation of vehicles.
  • Significant understanding of relevant traffic laws.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles, operation, and servicing of trucks and related automotive equipment. Ability to properly use, operate, and care for tools, equipment, and materials. Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment. Pursue and promote the company's best practices, including proper OSHA-regulated safety procedures. Introduce and certify new employees to meet company standards and enforce safety procedures.
  • Must have experience driving a trash truck or a like-type vehicle.
  •  Practice and adhere to all safety procedures.
  •  Ability to read a map and turn by turns.
  •  All other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to read and understand vehicle operator's manual. 
  • Must provide a certified current and complete driving record at the time of the interview.
  •  Pay: Competitive and negotiable
  • Quarterly bonuses are based on performance, safety, and perfect attendance.

The position is four days a week, with the possibility of changing to a five day work week.
