Reporting to the survey supervisor, the survey technician is responsible to performs surveys of the various workplaces. Produces updated plans in accordance with established standards. Places surveyed mine openings on various sections and plan views used by technical departments. Carries out various tasks requested by the chief surveyor, such as ventilation surveys, reading instrumentation, etc. He/She assembles drawings to serve as blueprints for development and mining. He/She performs his/her work in compliance with the company's laws, rules, regulations, procedures, policies, etc., the Mining Act and occupational health and safety.
Based at the Windfall site, located in the North of Quebec area, he/she will be required to work a schedule of 15 days on followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation and meals provided.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create plans and specifications as directed by engineers using Deswik software;
• Keep level and ramp plans up to date;
• Maintain statistical compilations on appropriate software;
• Conduct surface and underground surveys;
• Perform ventilation surveys;
• Efficiently process and manage survey information for use in Deswik software;
• Configure, calibrate and maintain all survey instruments;
• Produce periodic and month-end reports;
• Export, structure and provide various survey-related data to various stakeholders;
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team;
• Participate in various meetings;
• Report to supervisor any situation that may affect work and make suggestions for improvement;
• Comply at all times with health and safety and environmental policies and regulations;
• Perform any other tasks related to the Mine Technician position that are relevant to the success of the project;
• Marks alignments for various operations including development, diamond drilling, long-hole drilling and cabling;
• Manage survey equipment inventory;
• Maintains a verification process (<<check survey>>)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• College diploma (DEC) in mineral technology;
• Training in surveying with relevant experience;
• Three (3) years' experience as a survey technician in an underground mine;
• Valid class 5 driver's license;
• Posséder les modules miniers (1,2,3,4,5 et 7).
TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Comfortable working with current IT tools;
• Understand how surveying tools work (GPS, total station, theodolite, CMS, C-ALS, drone, Lidar, etc.);
• Knowledge of support tools, techniques, and how technology is employed to provide IT services.;
• Ability to perform manual calculations.
BASIC SKILLS
• Demonstrate a rigorous approach to health and safety in the workplace;
• Be independent, rigorous and precise in your work;
• Ability to work in a fast-changing environment;
• Enjoy working in a team and able to create and maintain good relationships;
• Ability to work in remote areas and on atypical schedules.
