Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for accurate and timely general accounting, financial reporting, balance sheet management, and fixed asset accounting across a multi-entity organization. This role supports month-end and year-end closing, maintains audit-ready documentation, provides backup assistance for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, and partners with operational teams to strengthen financial controls, reporting accuracy, and process efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
General Accounting and Financial Reporting
· Prepare and record monthly journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.
· Perform month-end and year-end closing activities in accordance with established timelines.
· Prepare and review general ledger account reconciliations.
· Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records.
· Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, unusual transactions, and variances.
· Assist with the preparation of monthly management reports and financial statements.
· Support consolidated reporting requirements across multiple entities and companies.
Balance Sheet Management
· Prepare and maintain reconciliations for cash, intercompany accounts, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.
· Ensure balances are fully supported, properly documented, and audit-ready.
· Maintain organized accounting documentation, work papers, and supporting schedules.
· Assist with internal and external audit requests and follow-up activities.
Fixed Asset Accounting
· Manage the full lifecycle of fixed assets, including asset setup, transfers, disposals, and depreciation.
· Monitor Capital-in-Progress (CIP) projects and related capitalization activities.
· Ensure compliance with company capitalization policies and approval requirements.
· Reconcile fixed asset subledger balances to the general ledger.
· Partner with operational teams to validate, document, and track capital expenditures.
· Identify and resolve misclassified, obsolete, idle, or potentially impaired assets.
Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Support
· Provide backup support for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions as needed.
· Assist with invoices, cash applications, payment processing, and account reconciliations as needed.
· Help maintain strong financial controls, appropriate segregation of duties, and process compliance.
· Participate in initiatives to improve efficiency and accuracy within finance processes.
Compliance and Continuous Improvement
· Support compliance with company accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting requirements.
· Assist with tax, regulatory, and statutory reporting requirements.
· Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and automation within the accounting and reporting environment.
· Participate in cross-functional projects and special assignments as required.
Qualifications
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
· CPA designation or active progress toward CPA certification preferred.
Experience
· Five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
· Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
· Experience working in multi-entity or multi-company environments preferred.
· Experience with SAP or a comparable enterprise resource planning (ERP) system preferred.
· Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting, and financial controls.
· Excellent analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze and organize complex financial data.
· High degree of accuracy, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills.
· Effective written and verbal communication skills.
