Safety & Training Coordinator
The Training & Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all employee training programs and workplace safety initiatives across two manufacturing locations (Hampstead, MD and Grand Forks, ND) within a food-grade spice and seasonings production environment.
This role ensures compliance with OSHA, FDA, GMP, and HACCP standards while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and accountability. The position also provides administrative and procurement support, including ordering supplies and coordinating with vendors.
The role requires balancing hands-on involvement at the Hampstead facility (primary location) with remote oversight and periodic travel to the Grand Forks site (e.g., audits, training, incident review, program rollout).

- Hampstead, MD (Primary Site) – ~140 employees
- Grand Forks, ND (Secondary Site) – ~19 employees
Key Responsibilities
Training & Development
· Develop, implement, and standardize training programs across both locations, including:
o GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
o HACCP and food safety protocols
o Allergen control and sanitation procedures
· Workplace safety and equipment operation
· Lead onboarding training for new hires at the Hampstead site and ensure effective onboarding processes in Grand Forks
· Maintain centralized training records for both locations
· Track completion and ensure compliance for all mandatory training programs
· Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve content and delivery
· Coordinate refresher and annual compliance training
Safety Management
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs across both facilities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits (in-person and remote where applicable)
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; implement corrective actions
- Maintain OSHA logs and safety documentation for both sites
- Lead safety meetings and promote consistent safety culture across locations
- Manage PPE programs and ensure proper usage and availability at both facilities
- May be required to be PCQI certified
Food Safety & Compliance
- Support compliance with FDA, GMP, HACCP, and internal food safety standards
- Partner with Quality Assurance to maintain audit readiness
- Assist with internal and external audits (customer, regulatory, certification)
- Ensure proper handling and storage of spices, raw materials, and allergens
- Support consistent practices across both plants
Administrative & Procurement Support
- Order supplies (PPE, sanitation materials, training supplies, etc.) for both locations
- Maintain inventory levels and coordinate shipments between sites if needed
- Work with approved vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement
- Assist in maintaining documentation, reports, and compliance records
- Provide general administrative support (filing, scheduling, tracking)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Food Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in safety, training, or compliance in manufacturing (food production preferred)
- Experience supporting or managing multi-site operations is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA, GMP, HACCP, and FDA regulations
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize across multiple locations

Work Environment
- Primary work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to spice dust, equipment, and varying temperatures
- Frequent presence on the production floor at Hampstead
- Periodic travel to Grand Forks facility required
- Use of PPE required as necessary
