Salary: $25 hourly based on a 35 hour work week

Contract Duration: 3 months

About ONCAT

The Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT) puts learners first by making it easier to navigate and succeed in Ontario’s postsecondary system. ONCAT manages ONTransfer.ca, a trusted resource for exploring pathways and transfer options across colleges, universities, and Indigenous Institutes. As a convener and sector partner, ONCAT collaborates with institutions to advance learner mobility and recognition of prior and non-formal learning.

We support pathway development and streamlined credit transfer, while fostering innovation through shared tools, project-based funding, research, and the exchange of best practices. Funded by the Government of Ontario, ONCAT is building a more seamless, student-centred postsecondary system.

About the Position

ONCAT is seeking an Education Researcher to join our dynamic team for a summer internship. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, a passion for higher education research, and a commitment to equity and innovation. You’ll work closely with ONCAT’s research team to design, implement, and evaluate projects that advance learner mobility across Ontario’s postsecondary sector.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to ONCAT-led Research Projects

• Collaborate with the research team to develop and implement innovative research projects.
• Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans.
• Organize, restructure, and analyze complex data sources.
• Prepare materials for reports and presentations, focusing on research literature, data sources, and methodologies.
• Develop and support the writing of technical documents.
• Assist with the administration and development of research projects.

Support General Research Activities for ONCAT

• Provide research assistance (e.g., fact-checking) for ONCAT programs, communications, and presentations.
• Compile and process information required for government reports and inquiries.

Support ONCAT-Funded Projects

• Assist with the administration of ONCAT’s grant programs and RFPs.
• Review preliminary and final deliverables from ONCAT-funded projects.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Graduate degree in social sciences, education, or public policy.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a research-intensive role.
• Expertise in quantitative research methodologies, including multivariate analysis techniques.
• Proficiency with quantitative data analysis software (preferably Stata and R).
• Commitment to equity, intersectionality, and reconciliation in research design and evaluation.
• Intellectual curiosity, collaborative spirit, and strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Statistics Canada data.
• Experience with qualitative and mixed-methods research.
• Knowledge of recent research in higher education, particularly topics related to ONCAT’s mandate.
• Understanding of Ontario’s postsecondary sector and public policy environment.
• Previous research publications and presentations.
• Ability to work in both official languages is preferred (English and French).
