Pay:
· Local: 2,836 per week (36 hours)
· Travel: 2,984 per week (36 hours)
· Shift: Nights, 3x12s (typical 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
· Expected weekly hours: 36
· Weekend and holiday rotation as needed
· Unit: Labor & Delivery within a community hospital setting
· Approximate ratio: 1:1 in active labor when possible; may assist postpartum or mother-baby depending on census and staffing needs.
· Provide comprehensive perinatal nursing care to laboring women and newborns through antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum periods.
· Perform ongoing maternal and fetal assessments, including fetal heart rate monitoring, contraction pattern evaluation, and maternal vital sign review.
· Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and obstetric emergencies in collaboration with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, and pediatric teams.
· Administer medications including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, and other obstetric agents according to facility policy while monitoring for adverse effects.
· Support breastfeeding initiation, newborn care, and parental education on postpartum recovery, newborn safety, and follow-up care.
· Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record and participate in unit quality and safety initiatives.
· Active Connecticut Registered Nurse license in good standing
· Minimum 1–2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience in an acute care setting.
· Current BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association; NRP or equivalent may be required by the facility.
· Competency in fetal heart monitoring interpretation and obstetric emergency response, including hemorrhage and preeclampsia management.
· AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring preferred
· RNC-OB or similar inpatient obstetric nursing certification preferred
