The Multi-Facility Registered Dietitian functions as the Facility Consultant Dietitian as directed by the Executive Director. This position will be based in Winnfield and will also serve Natchitoches Nursing Rehabilitation Center and Winnfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Travel is required.

DUTIES

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Communicates with direct supervisor on a regular basis to update him/her on the status of the dietary department; seeks assistance or guidance as needed, and informs supervisor of progress of special programs and noteworthy events.

2. Monitors dietary costs at each facility.

3. Assists Food Service Director in effective cost management.

4. Completes all nutritional paperwork for new admissions, visits new residents for diet history, reviews medical record for pertinent nutritional information, records necessary information, notifies dietary of likes / dislikes, beverage preferences, any food allergies, and diabetic meal pattern if needed.

5. Attends and conducts periodic meeting/workshop training for the Food Service Director and Facility as needed.

6. Assists Executive Director in forecasting dietary capital expenditures.

7. Assists the facility Executive Director when requested in hiring and training of facility Food Service Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Possesses a valid and current registration for the American Dietetic Association and license or certification as mandated by the state where employed.

2. Expertise in geriatric nutrition, clinical and/or administrative dietetics preferred.

3. Understands principles of growth and development for the entire life span with the ability to provide care appropriate for the adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as appropriate to the patient population.

4. Ability to communicate effectively in English through verbal and written means.

Skill(s): Must possess proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills;
proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills; decision-making skills, basic computer skills; and be able to operate various medical and/or office equipment. Must demonstrate knowledge of safety techniques. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.
