Position Summary
The Receiving Lead is responsible for managing daily receiving workflow while actively performing receiving functions. This role ensures all incoming equipment is processed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with established processes.
This position owns the flow of work through receiving—balancing hands-on execution with oversight of workflow, priorities, and process consistency. The Receiving Lead plays a critical role in maintaining production levels, minimizing errors, and ensuring equipment moves into the next stage without delays.
Key Responsibilities
Perform receiving functions including intake, sorting, logging, and work order creation
Verify equipment against purchase orders and enter accurate data (manufacturer, model, serial, etc.)
Process drop-offs, shipments, and transfers; route equipment to appropriate lab areas
Manage daily workflow, prioritize work (rush, warranty, new accounts), and prevent bottlenecks
Monitor backlog, aging, and volume to maintain flow and meet turnaround expectations
Ensure work is completed consistently and in line with standard processes
Create, update, and improve receiving SOPs and workflows
Identify and resolve process gaps, inefficiencies, and recurring issues
Partner closely with Lab Operations Specialists to identify root causes of process gaps and TAT delays related to receiving, and implement improvements to maintain workflow efficiency
Maintain accuracy of all documentation and validate work before release
Reduce errors and rework; maintain logs and support audit readiness
Coordinate with Lab, QA, Logistics, and A/R to ensure smooth handoffs and communication
Resolve missing or incomplete information to avoid delays
Provide day-to-day guidance on workflow and processes; support onboarding and training
Identify and support improvements to increase efficiency and throughput
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience
3+ years of experience in receiving, logistics, or operations
Strong hands-on experience with receiving workflows and documentation
Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Skills & Competencies
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to balance hands-on work with workflow oversight
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Ability to identify issues and drive practical solutions
Effective communication and ability to provide direction without formal authority
Problem-solving mindset
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn internal systems
