Reading Specialist/Literacy Interventionist
The Intensive Education Academy (IEA) is actively seeking a motivated candidate to provide explicit multisensory reading instruction to improve specific reading skills while building upon students confidence as learners. This position will report to the Director of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

CT Certification required either Special Education (065) and/or Remedial Reading (102)

Excellent interpersonal skills and understanding of and appreciation for the science of reading, structured literacy and special education.
Responsibilities:

Assess student performance and progress to guide the intervention services provided, develop lessons and materials, instruct, and use data to drive instruction for very small groups and individuals.

Works collaboratively with special education classroom teachers and the literacy consultant to implement targeted reading instruction that is research-based and tailored to student needs.

Coordinates with other professional staff members regarding reading, assessments and personalized teaching techniques; assists, coaches and models effective personalized instructional strategies for classroom teachers.

Documents teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes.

Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

Performs other related tasks as may, from time to time, be assigned by the Director of Education

IEA values lifelong learning, therefore, our candidate will receive one year of mentoring to support professional learning and strengthen reading interventions.
Applicants will need to provide at least two recommendation letters, and proof of education requirements, and they must pass a background check.
