SUMMARY:
Performs radiologic procedures (CT and X-ray) using ionizing radiation through computerized (CR or DR) processing while providing quality patient care and technical skills for diagnostic and evaluation purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- EDUCATION:Â Required: High school diploma or equivalent plus graduation from an approved education program in radiologic technology.
- EXPERIENCE: Preferred: 2 years as a Radiologic Technologist
- LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Required:
All of the following:
- Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist license -Texas Department of State Health Services
- Current BLS (CPR) training.
WORKÂ CONDITIONS:
- Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs.
- Ability to stand for long periods, occasional overhead and low reaching.
- Ability to exert force of up to 50lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently and / or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
- Ability to exert force of up to 30 lbs. constantly, up to 40 lbs. occasionally and up to 100 lbs. rarely
OCCUPATIONALEXPOSURE:
Patient care environment with Category 1 exposure to blood borne pathogens, radiation, and /or high energy magnetic fields.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs both routine and difficult CT and X-rays.
- Processes images and patient information through RIS and PACS , or other hard copy parameters.
- Receives and explains procedures to patients.
- Positions patients and selects and sets technical factors for DR and CR processing.
- Assures sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters or other equipment is readily available and the radiologic room is set up properly.
- Prepares and administers contrast material (oral, IV, or by enema) as directed by a radiologist.

Performs other duties as assigned.
