Position Summary

Becker Global America / SMC is seeking a motivated and experienced Quality, Process & Safety Coordinator to lead quality assurance, workplace safety, compliance, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout our manufacturing operation.

This is a hands-on position requiring active involvement on the production floor, working directly with operations, engineering, and production teams to improve quality, enhance safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive operational excellence. The successful candidate will be a self-starter capable of working independently while managing multiple priorities and projects.

The Quality, Process & Safety Coordinator will be responsible for developing and maintaining quality and safety programs, writing procedures and work instructions, conducting audits and investigations, coordinating product testing, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and leading continuous improvement efforts throughout the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Quality Management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry regulations, and internal quality standards.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external customer and regulatory audits.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.
  • Investigate quality concerns, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Train employees on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Monitor customer complaints and feedback, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to quality performance.
  • Support document control, work instruction development, and quality record retention.
Product Testing & Verification
  • Perform and coordinate functional, electrical, and operational testing of products and assemblies.
  • Verify products meet engineering specifications, drawings, and customer requirements.
  • Document testing results and maintain accurate testing records.
  • Troubleshoot product failures and assist with root cause investigations.
  • Ensure testing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Support product validation and quality assurance activities throughout the manufacturing process.
Process Improvement
  • Analyze existing manufacturing and business processes to identify efficiency opportunities.
  • Develop and implement process improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
  • Establish performance benchmarks and monitor progress toward operational goals.
  • Support automation and digital transformation initiatives where applicable.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
Safety & Compliance
  • Coordinate and maintain company safety programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Assist with OSHA compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
  • Develop and track corrective actions resulting from safety audits and investigations.
  • Coordinate safety training and maintain training records.
  • Support emergency response planning and safety committee activities.
  • Monitor PPE compliance and safe work practices throughout the facility.
  • Maintain required safety documentation, reports, and regulatory postings.
Program Development & Administration
  • Develop, write, implement, and maintain quality, safety, and operational procedures, policies, and work instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, customer requirements, and applicable quality standards.
  • Maintain documentation required for regulatory compliance, audits, certifications, and customer requirements.
  • Lead compliance initiatives and proactively identify areas of risk or non-conformance.
  • Prepare reports, metrics, and documentation for management review.
  • Assist leadership with strategic initiatives related to quality, safety, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

Required
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in Quality Management, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, process improvement, manufacturing, safety coordination, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, continuous improvement methodologies, and workplace safety programs.
  • Experience conducting audits, investigations, and corrective action activities.
  • Experience writing policies, procedures, work instructions, training materials, and compliance documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, specifications, and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
  • Experience with ISO quality systems and auditing.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen training/certification.
  • Experience with electrical manufacturing, industrial products, or assembly operations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety programs.
  • Experience with quality management software and process improvement tools.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • This is not solely an office-based position. Significant time will be spent on the production floor supporting operations, conducting inspections, performing audits, observing processes, testing products, interacting with team members, and driving improvements throughout the facility.
  • Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Regular interaction with production personnel, engineering teams, and leadership.
  • Occasional travel may be required for supplier audits, customer visits, training, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the facility.
  • Must be able to safely work in a manufacturing environment while utilizing required PPE.
