Purchaser- Full Time ONSITE DAYS MON-FRI 8:00am-5:00pm  

Summary: Obtain supplies, services, and equipment by directing the procurement of contractual services and warehousing programs.  Supervising the staff in maintaining inventory through purchase order preparation; adding received goods to inventory; maintaining information systems and historical references.

Essential Functions: 

Procure supplies, services and equipment by:

 Establish and maintain ongoing communication with group purchasing agency to ensure the best pricing

Review products utilized and develop a plan for change when prices increase, For each storage location in the organization

 establish minimum and maximum inventory levels and reorder quantities. 

 Review requisitions for authorization and or unusual usage. 

 Ensure department in compliance with proper storage techniques.

Develop sources for the procurement of supplies services and equipment.

Provide information regarding supplies services and equipment by responding to requests.

Prepares procurement and usage reports. 

Maintain procurement and receiving operations.

Develop policies and procedures: ensuring verification of incoming shipments.

Costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. 

Maintain quality of supplies, services, and equipment by discussing defective or unacceptable goods, services or equipment

Determine source of trouble and resolve disputes.

Manage purchasing staff by orienting and training employees. 

Manage purchasing staff job results by counseling and disciplining, planning, monitoring and appraising job results.

 Close month end on the 1st of each month reconciles purchase order discrepancies

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent.  Experience of two to three years inventory management, and negotiating purchases in a supervisory position.  Hospital experience preferred

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  Knowledge of general accounting principles, contracts, and marketing.  Must be knowledgeable of supply patterns, procedures and guidelines.  Be able to use Microsoft Programs  Skill in operating general office equipment.  Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action, and to remain calm in emergencies.  Minimize waste of supplies/misuse of equipment.  Read, write, speak and understand the English language.  Must be able to follow and give oral and written instructions.
