Summary:
The Transition House Lead 1 works in collaboration with the Program Lead 2 to oversee the day-to-day operations (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Monday) of Yew Transition House and Thyme Second Stage Programs, and creates an environment where women and children participants are supported and have access to programing to support their goals. The Lead 1 reports to the Program Lead 2-Yew and Thyme Transition Houses.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works in collaboration with the Lead 2 to oversee the day-to-day operations of Yew and Thyme to ensure effective and efficient operations including staff scheduling, financial administration, maintenance, repairs, and renovations of the facilities and grounds.
- Responsible for the ongoing program delivery of a 24 hrs./day, seven days/week program. This will include being on call when scheduled for Yew staff support.
- Works in collaboration with the Lead 2, Program Manager, and HR Manager to recruit, hire, orient, schedule, coach, train, supervise, discipline, and terminate staff in accordance with the collective agreement and SCCSS policies and procedures.
- Follows, stays current with, and implements the collective agreement.
- Establishes, implements, and maintains safety and security procedures.
- Builds rapport with clients to secure trust, confidence, and credibility.
- Performs basic tidying, cleaning, and organizational activities as needed. Has the ability to assess and attend to minor household repairs and maintenance.
- Supports, debriefs, and initiates self-care practices to employees to lessen the impact of various trauma.
- Collaborates with other SCCSS programs to enrich program delivery and fulfill our mission more effectively.
- Supports the Lead 2 to develop and implement annual work plan and evaluation process, including the completion of program(s) reports, stat collection, and maintenance of relevantt documents.
- Maintains client records and client files in keeping with program manual and SCCSS policy.
- Support the mission, vision, and values of SCCSS including participating in organizational-wide initiatives as interested or asked.
- Ensures effective service delivery consistent with agency mandate, policy, meeting all legal, contractual, financial, and other compliance requirements.
- Champions ongoing compliance with accreditation standards, new standards, and CARF requirements.
- Stays current with SCCSS programs and services.
- May be requested to assist with other duties to aid with the efficient operation of the organization.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree in counselling or social work, plus two years of related experience in a related field or the equivalent in education and experience. Plus, one year of supervisory or management experience an asset.
- Good working knowledge of the Local, Provincial, and Federal legislation and regulations as relevant to the work.
- Experience working effectively and in a non-judgmental manner with clients from different cultures, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Experience supervising employees, contractors, and volunteers in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Experience applying a feminist analysis of gender violence as it affects children, women, and trans folks.
- Solid understanding of the systemic issues that need to be addressed in order to decrease violence against women and children.
- A trauma-informed practice approach.
- Knowledge of family systems and culturally competent practices.
- Experience with program planning, evaluation and report writing an asset.
- Knowledge of the dynamics of violence against marginalized individuals.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across programs and with community partners.
- Facilities management experience is an asset.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Able to identify and act on priorities.
- Successful results of criminal record check.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle is required to attend meetings and events across the Coast.
- Strong knowledge of SCCSS programs and services.
- First aid, Level C.
