Podiatrist (PT)
SUMMARY: Practice medicine within the scope of license, training and credentialing and in accordance with the current standard of care. Podiatrist treat a variety of foot and ankle ailments, including calluses, ingrown toenails, heel spurs and arch problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Examine, diagnose and treat disorders, diseases, deformities or injuries of the foot. Consults with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment. Recommend and orders tests to determine extent of illness or help diagnose condition.
2. Assess the condition of a patient’s feet, ankles, or lower legs by reviewing his or her medical history, listening to the patient’s concerns, and performing a physical examination.
3. Give advice and instruction on foot and ankle care and on general wellness techniques.
4. Prescribe needed medications.
5. Refer patients to other physicians or specialists if they detect larger health problems, such as diabetes.
6. Provide medical care to Alabama Regional Medical Services adult, adolescent and/or pediatric patients, as qualified and in accordance with Alabama Regional Medical Services’ Primary Health Care Plan, Policies, Procedures and Protocols.
7. Comply with the applicable requirements of HIPAA and Joint Commission.
8. Physician will at all times perform Physician’s duties and function in strict conformance with currently approved practices and standards and in a competent and professional manner.
9. Physician will maintain licensure to practice medicine in the State of Alabama and Controlled Substance registration certificate authorized by the United States Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration.
10. Obtaining and maintaining Medicare certification.
11. Comply and participate with the quality and / or performance improvement plan.
12. Remain current with all medical record requirements; including dating and timing of orders and progress notes.
13. Assist and contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures as needed.
14. Pursue other specific goals and objectives as outlined by the management.
15. Collaborate closely with all members of the medical staff on clinical issues and measures to include completeness and accuracy.
16. Attend, at agency expense, seminars and conferences as deemed appropriate by the Chief Executive Officer.
17. Other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Operating Officer or Chief Executive Officer.
